Beginner Classes

Our Beginner classes are for adolescent and mature dogs over 5 months old who have missed out on training so far or need a good refresher course. They are ideal for owners who would like to understand and improve their own training skills.

The 6 week courses cover all basic dog training from recall to walking nicely on lead and address common problems such as mugging visitors that may have crept in. Social skills and handling for the real world are included.

The first week consists of the Foundation talk covering canine communication, learning and body language, creating the right relationship with your dog and the importance of meeting your dog’s needs for exercise, mental stimulation etc. A practical demonstration introduces the methods used in our training.

All training is constructive and reward based and will show you how that doesn’t mean permissive society by setting fair, consistent guidelines for appropriate behaviour at home. Absolutely no abusive handling or equipment such as choke chains or throw bottles are permitted.

Small classes and plenty of space encourage dogs to settle and develop teamwork with their owners. However dogs who are over reactive or noisy around others will initially be offered individual training and behaviour advice on a one to one basis.

How to Book

Please select a course and complete the online booking form. The cost of the course is £65 which includes written notes for ongoing reference and Wendy will contact you to answer any questions and arrange payment on receipt of the form.

You will be welcome to come along and sit in on a class at any time.
